RESONATE IN THEE — For one night Keiken invites us into the Metaverse where their brand new sensorial technology, the Meta-Womb, will premiere. The multi-media performance will be starring singer and artist Saint Precious who will explore her relationship to it. The audience is invited to watch, listen and to experience the Meta-Womb too.
In this intriguing event incorporating live haptics, sound and visuals Saint Precious will sing and perform live wearing the Meta-womb - exploring her inner child, rebirth and her longing to carry a child. She will be interrogating these themes through the following questions: Who was the inner child before trauma? When we realise we are connected to all living things and matter, how does this enable a process of rebirth from previous perceptions of ourselves? Is maternal longing in-built into our biology or is it a more spiritual one bound to the soul?
The Meta-Womb is a haptic wearable silicone womb that through embodiment and activating our senses reconnects us to the original technology, the womb - a technology of growth and birth, seeking to expand empathy and to enter a more cosmic and transformative space. After an initial performance, the audience will be invited to wear the Meta-Womb themselves one by one and Saint Precious will sing guiding them through her experience stimulating other-worldly senses of touch and motion.
Note: As part of the 9th “Branchentreff”, there will be an Artist Talk with Keiken and performance artist Katerina Hvaerich on Tuesday October 26 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm. Register online by October 20 via: https://pap-berlin.de/de/9-branchentreff
Saint Precious is a multifaceted Swedish-Barbadian artist working across artistic disciplines. Primarily a vocalist who’s worked with various artists, musicians and groups, since her recent move to Berlin has begun to perform across the landscape of performance art.
Keiken, Japanese for experience, create speculative future worlds. Through moving-image, new media installation, virtual/augmented reality, programming and performance they merge the physical and digital. The collaborative arts collective was co-founded in 2015 by artists Tanya Cruz, Hana Omori, and Isabel Ramos. Based between London and Berlin they are building a collective shared space of virtual worlds, a Metaverse, and explore how societal introjection governs the way we feel, think and perceive. Recent works such as “Wisdoms for Love 3.0”, “Augmented Empathy”, “Metaverse: We are at the end of Something”, “Metaverse Womb” and “Feel My Metaverse” were invited internationally to among others: HEK House of Electronic Arts Basel, 17th Venice Architecture Biennale, Koenig Galerie, Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, FACT Liverpool, Creamcake x HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Sheffield Doc Fest, Mira Festival Barcelona, Frankfurter Kunstverein, transmediale, Haus der Kulturen der Welt and ICA London.
